• Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 2 and 3, 2 p.m.
Student-led tours: Join Lina Pacheco ’25 for “Constructing the Butch Gardens,” an interactive tour of the Teddy Sandoval and the Butch Gardens School of Art exhibition. Visitors will learn about the Butch Gardens bar that inspired Teddy’s School of Art and discussing how Sandoval and other artists used their practice to develop spaces that celebrated queer Latinx bodies during a period of revolutionary Chicano/a/x activism in California and at the peak of the AIDS pandemic. The tour will be given Saturday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. in English and Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. in Spanish.

Curatorial Close Look: Deputy Director Lisa Dorin will lead a guided tour exploring themes and topics in the Teddy Sandoval and the Butch Gardens School of Art exhibition.

SO-IL Midday Office Hours: Join members of the building committee in the SO-IL / WCMA: Building A New Museum exhibition to chat about plans for the new WCMA, set to open in 2027. We are excited to hear your thoughts, questions, and ideas in this informal setting inspired by “office hours” with a professor. Light refreshments will be provided.

Film Screening: https://visualaids.orgJoin us for “Day With(out) Art” (also known as World AIDS Day), for which we have partnered with NYC-based Visual AIDS to screen “Red Reminds Me…,” a program of seven videos reflecting the emotional spectrum of living with HIV today. Stay after the screening for followed by a dialogue led by local LGBTQIA+ community members.

Warm Up @ WCMA: WCMA is participating in the annual Williamstown Holiday Walk! Warm up in the galleries with a variety of family-friendly activities from 10:30 a.m. to noon that will have you looking at art in new ways and enjoying snacks and warm drinks. And visit us throughout the day, with galleries open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and special shop sales!

What’s the Tea @ WCMA: Stop by and find out what’s happening at the museum this semester. There will be plenty of food, friends, and art between 2 and 3:30 p.m. Ephs, grab a friend and come check out the WALLS works that be going out the following day, on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Play and Inquiry: Celebrating Latinx and Queer Art Communities: Join us for any or all parts of this day-long celebration of Latinx and queer art held in conjunction with Teddy Sandoval and the Butch Gardens School of Art.
11 a.m.–noon: Tour of Teddy Sandoval and the Butch Gardens School of Art with C. Ondine Chavoya and David Evans Frantz
Noon–1 p.m.: Free Lunch at WCMA with local LGBTQIA+ groups sharing information in a casual setting.

1–3 p.m.: “Mail-art” making workshop led by Erick Ramos-Jacobo, Program Research Assistant and Workshop Leader
3:30–5 p.m.: Panel discussion featuring artists from the exhibition

Artists in residence at WCMA, Urban Bush Women are exploring how their latest work Haint Blu—an ensemble dance-theater work steeped in memory and magic—can be produced in a museum context. During this week, members of UBW will collaborate with Pallavi Sen in her solo exhibition, Colour Theory.

All Together with Art: Connect with a little one in your life through art! Join us at WCMA, where we will spend an hour in the galleries looking at and engaging with art through movement and making. Advance registration appreciated here.

Public Workshop: Artist Pallavi Sen will lead participants in a still-life drawing workshop inspired by her exhibition. All materials will be provided, participants will be drawing with oil pastels on paper. The workshop is limited to 15 participants. Advance registration is required here.

Conversation: Join artist Pallavi Sen with curators Roz Crews and Nicholas Liou in the gallery for a conversation about Sen’s exhibition Colour Theory.
