Collection assessment work in the fall of 2023

It’s time for summer school, WCMA-style!

Join us for a conversation with WCMA collection curators Kevin Murphy and Elizabeth Sandoval, who will demonstrate aspects of the important collection assessment currently under way at WCMA. They will share and discuss four artworks from the collection as they demonstrate their close-looking techniques. During the session, they will touch on issues surrounding the artworks, including provenance, conservation goals, and research opportunities. At 6 p.m., we’ll move outside for a celebratory after-school patio party with cocktails, snacks, and an art-making activity. Everyone is welcome to either or both parts!

Registration is appreciated here but not required.

The program will take place in the upper galleries of WCMA. Visitors can enter through the main museum door and will need to take stairs or an elevator up to the galleries. There is limited parking directly outside the museum on Lawrence Hall Drive but ample parking nearby on public streets and in public lots.
