In Theory: Catherine Opie’s “Renee”

WCMA's recent acquisition of Catherine Opie's "Renee," is the focal point for salon-style conversations about the body in art, culture, and society.

Tatiana McInnis, Associate Director of The Davis Center, joins Nina Pelaez, Assistant Curator of Public Programs and Interpretation, in conversation. They will be engaging with Bell Hooks’ “The Oppositional Gaze” and Allan Sekula’s “The Body and The Archive” and exploring themes of race, gender, identity , and the gaze.  No prior reading required.
