Grappling With Our Histories: The Haystack Memorial, the 19th century Missions Movement, and the Subjugation of Hawaii

A conversation for students, faculty, and staff of Williams College to reckon with the histories surfaced in "“The Field is the World:” Williams, Hawaiʻi, and Material Histories in the Making."

In this discussion, we will unpack and complicate the dominant historical narrative around the Haystack monument. We will explore new lenses for looking at and understanding our history as we question the limits of archives, and the ranges of ways we might interpret objects significant to Williams College.
