Three Directions

Yehiel Shemi (b. 1922, Haifa, Israel; d. 2003, Israel)

Three Directions is composed of large rectangular steel plates arranged in horizontal and vertical orientations. Each plate leans at a slight angle, making the heavy material seem precariously balanced. The texture and vertical position of the sculpture resonates with the architecture of the academic buildings that surround it.

Gift of Jacques and Donatella Lennon to Williams College Museum of Art. 91.2.2.

Located outside Bryant House.
