Block #5298, Williamstown, MA, one of 50,000 panels in the National AIDS Memorial Quilt, will be on display at WCMA from Tuesday, November 26, through Friday, Dec. 13.
The National AIDS Memorial Quilt is the largest community art project in the United States and a powerful tool for bringing generations together around the impacts of the ongoing epidemic. Collaborative artworks such as this provide a platform for collectively honoring neighbors and those around the country as we continue to fight against the stigmatization and prejudice faced by LGBTQIA+ communities.
The Williamstown block was submitted in 1999 to memorialize eight Berkshire residents who lost their lives to HIV-related complications:
Willie Anderson (1953–1997)
Herman (1989–1996)
Scott Kosier (1964–1997)
David Lewis (1962–1998)
Gary Joe Veach (1958–1990)
Stanley Pawlic (N/A)
David Liebhart (1951–990)
Peter Morris Whitman (N/A)
